Marathon Burger: Nipsey Hussle Legacy Expands With New Restaurant in L.A

Los Angeles, CA – Nipsey Hussle’s family and close associates are continuing the late rapper’s vision with the grand opening of Marathon Burger, a new brick-and-mortar restaurant located in the heart of LA’s Fairfax District. This marks the evolution of what began as a pop-up restaurant into a fully established restaurant, bringing fresh flavors and a deep sense of community to the iconic Melrose Avenue.
The official launch of Marathon Burger took place on Saturday, as the eatery, which has been in operation since 2024, celebrated the completion of its remodel. Originally housed in the former Nomoo and Peach Pit pop-up space, the new brick-and-mortar location has now transitioned into a thriving local hotspot.
At the heart of Marathon Burger’s menu are carefully curated burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, and hot wings, all featuring fresh, organic ingredients. The eatery’s dedication to quality is reflected in its use of non-frozen items, including house-made pickles and vegan patties for those who prefer plant-based options. For dessert, Marathon Burger offers milkshakes made with Thrifty ice cream, adding a nostalgic touch to the dining experience.

Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, the brother of Nipsey Hussle and the driving force behind Marathon Burger, explained the inspiration behind the restaurant’s creation. After going on a smash burger tour and tasting ingredients from various establishments, the team decided to create a burger experience that reflected their own tastes and values.

Blacc Sam, who was actively involved in the kitchen during the grand opening, emphasized that leadership is about being present and engaged. The first 100 guests received complimentary burgers, and lines stretched down Melrose Avenue as fans and foodies alike gathered to experience the latest chapter in Nipsey Hussle’s legacy.

Nipsey Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, launched the Marathon brand early in his career as a way to build businesses that centered around his passions for music, fashion, entertainment, and community. His tragic death in 2019 left a lasting impact on Los Angeles, but his vision continues to thrive through his family and business partners. Marathon Burger is the latest in a series of ventures that align with Hussle’s commitment to creating opportunities and uplifting his community.
The restaurant joins other Los Angeles-based hip hop artists’ food ventures, such as Donald Glover’s (aka Childish Gambino) Jellyman in Silver Lake and Juicy Pizza by the daughters of the late Run-D.M.C.’s Jam Master Jay and Biggie Smalls. However, Marathon Burger holds special significance as it directly honors Hussle’s entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to giving back to the community.

Marathon Burger, now open at 7507 Melrose Avenue, is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and late-night phone order pick-ups from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., the restaurant serves both early risers and night owls.
