The Unjust Imprisonment of William Saulsberry: A Call for Justice

Los Angeles, CA–On March 16, 2016, William Saulsberry was arrested during a visit to his parole officer. What seemed like a routine meeting, would turn into a troubling legal journey. At the time of his arrest, no warrant had been issued for his detention, and there were no apparent violations of his parole terms. Saulsberry was immediately booked on attempted murder charges, despite the fact that there was no substantive evidence to support such a claim.

The charges were dismissed March 18th due to the lack of evidence. However, Saulsberry was held in custody and never informed about the dismissed charges. He was in jail for four months before another warrant was issued for his arrest July 18th.

Saulsberry is now serving two life without parole sentences, plus eight life sentences and an additional two 45-year convictions.
