This year’s Freedom Festival will be held tomorrow Saturday, February 25th, from 11 am to 5 pm at the historic Leimert Park Plaza to celebrate art, activism, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Grammy-nominated artist D Smoke will be joining the line-up along with The Syncopated Ladies.

The award-winning Robey Theatre Company, a theatre group ‘for us, by us,’ will also perform a tribute to Paul Robeson. In addition, you will hear the voices of some of LA’s most dynamic poets, South Central Spits Fire, featuring bridgette bianca, GusTavo Guerra Vasquez, and Jaha Zainbu.

Vocal stylist Skyler Raye and The Fernando Pullum Youth Center will highlight Black achievement and Black music with a Coltrane-inspired jazzy backdrop to the afternoon.

For the kids, stop by the MHD Fun Zone, where there will be loads of fun activities for families.

The Vendors Village has been carefully curated and includes a collection of local crafters with items reflecting creativity you won’t find anywhere else.

The Council Office of Marqueece Harris Dawson will host the Employ LA Career Fair which runs from 9am to 1pm at Freedom Fest.

The career fair is brought to you by the councilman’s Targeted Local Hire initiative, to create job opportunities and reduce economic inequality by hiring from the local community.
