Double Homicide Suspect at Compton Intersection Identified As Estranged Boyfriend Donte Lamont Brown

Compton, Calif. — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) has identified Donte Lamont Brown as the suspect in a tragic double homicide that claimed the lives of a mother and daughter earlier this week. The shooting occurred at a red light in Compton, and authorities believe Brown, described as the estranged boyfriend of the mother, is responsible for the killings. Brown is currently on the run, and investigators are urging the public to remain vigilant as they continue their search.
The incident took place on Caldwell Street and South Central Avenue around 7 p.m. Tuesday night. According to LASD officials, the two women—identified as La’von Hall, 45, and her daughter, Ma’Laysia Martin, 22—were sitting in their car at a red light when a vehicle pulled up beside them. The suspect reportedly opened fire, shooting into the car multiple times before fleeing the scene. Authorities say that after Hall was struck by the gunfire and exited the vehicle, the car continued across the intersection, crashing into a curb and light pole. Tragically, paramedics pronounced both women dead at the scene.
