JayBee, Compton’s Own, Takes Center Stage As New Las Vegas Arena Host
In the vibrant city of Las Vegas, where dreams come to life under dazzling lights, a remarkable story of resilience and triumph is unfolding. Jennifer “JayBee” Beasley, is a charismatic MC and Host, whose journey from the streets of Compton to the center stage as a minor league Vegas sports host, is nothing short of inspirational.
Growing up as a dark-skinned girl in Compton with a love for alternative music and musical theatre, JayBee faced the challenges of being a non-conformist in a tough environment. Despite the adversity, she found solace and joy in the creative arts, using poetry and performance to express herself.
Her path took an unexpected turn when, at just 23, she battled and conquered Hodgkin’s lymphoma blood cancer. JayBee’s resilience shone through, becoming cancer-free after a stem cell transplant in September 2014. In the face of adversity, she kept the faith, driven by the conviction that she had more to give to the world.
COMING FROM COMPTON AND OVERCOMING HODGKINS LYMPHOMA BLOOD CANCER AT 23, I WASN’T SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT. I WAS DIAGNOSED TWICE AND BECAME CANCER FREE SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 AFTER A STEM CELL TRANSPLANT. GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON MY SIDE.
JayBee’s passion for the stage ignited at a young age, evolving into a decade-long career of speaking, performing, and hosting community events across Los Angeles, Compton, and even as far as Las Vegas. From founding the Compton Open Mic to gracing the stages of iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Natural History Museum, JayBee has carved her niche in the L.A entertainment scene.
The pinnacle of her journey, however, lies in her new role as the in-arena host for the Henderson SilverKnights hockey team, Vegas Knighthawk in-arena football, and the NBA’s G League Ignite, at the Dollar Loan Center in Nevada.
I MOVED TO VEGAS WITH THE DREAM OF BECOMING AN IN-ARENA HOST! IT’S LITERALLY A DREAM COME TRUE. I AUDITIONED LAST YEAR AND EVEN FOR TEAMS IN L.A. BUT GOD SAW FIT TO GRANT ME THREE TEAMS INSTEAD OF ONE.
JayBee’s role is not just a personal triumph but a groundbreaking moment for representation in minor league sports in Las Vegas. As the only Black woman hosting in this capacity, she embraces the responsibility of being a positive representation and sharing her infectious talent and joy for in-person events.
Beyond her hosting prowess, JayBee adds “published author” to her list of achievements. Her book, “Straight Out of Chemo: A Fight for Love and Life,” chronicles her battle with cancer and is available on Amazon and Kindle Ebooks.
Additionally, JayBee is dedicated to bringing quality apparel and programming through her ‘Compton Celebrity’ brand.
As she continues to break barriers, JayBee’s message to others facing tough times is clear, “Believe in yourself! Bet on you!” Her story is a testament to the power of self-esteem and perseverance in overcoming life’s challenges.
EVERYONE IS GOING THROUGH THEIR OWN BATTLES AND ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF THEIR OWN LIVES. HAVE SOME SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-CONTROL IN ALL THAT YOU DO!
Looking ahead, JayBee envisions more milestones, including becoming internationally known on the microphone, hosting a musician’s tour, and leading panels on Black women’s voices in the world. With her faith, enthusiasm and resilience, JayBee is ready for the next chapter, leaving an indelible mark on the stages she graces and the hearts she inspires.
