Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Visits Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Burger

Los Angeles,CA–Mayor Karen Bass recently visited The Marathon Burger, a new eatery that extends the legacy of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle. The burger stand is part of Hussle’s iconic Marathon brand, which includes his music, clothing line, and now food. The establishment is run by his brother, Samiel Asghedom—also known as Blacc Sam—and his business partner, Casey Parker.
Casey brings a legacy of his own. His father was owner of the famed Larry Parker’s diner, once a popular late-night destination in L.A. Visitors to The Marathon Burger can catch nostalgic elements reminiscent of Larry Parker’s, such as classic speakers and old-school melodies that fill the space with an unmistakable vibe.

In a moment that highlighted both her approachability and support for the culture, Mayor Bass even stepped behind the counter and hopped on the grill—a signature experience at The Marathon Burger when rappers, entertainers, and now politicians come through to show love.
With guidance from the kitchen team, she flipped a few patties and embraced the energy that makes the burger stand such a unique intersection of food, music, and community.

Mayor Bass’s visit carries deep significance. It follows troubling reports of Black men being harassed and handcuffed by police while simply trying to support the establishment on Melrose. Her presence not only affirms the importance of protecting Black spaces but also highlights the need for elected officials to recognize and support them.
The Marathon Burger is more than a food spot. The establishment serves as a living testament to Nipsey Hussle’s commitment to community empowerment, economic independence, and cultural pride.
