  • PublishedMarch 6, 2024

The Los Angeles Police Department has announced the arrest of a 41-year-old man from Hopkins, Minnesota, in connection with the alleged murder of aspiring model Maleesa Mooney. Mooney’s body was discovered in her downtown Los Angeles apartment last year, with signs of blunt force trauma and her body stuffed in the refrigerator.

Magnus Daniel Humphrey, the arrested suspect, is currently on federal probation for drug offenses and was apprehended on an unrelated federal warrant. The LAPD, after nearly six months of investigation, believes Humphrey to be the prime suspect in Mooney’s tragic death.

Toxicology reports revealed the presence of cocaine and alcohol in Mooney’s system, adding complexity to the case. Humphrey, who has waived extradition, is set to face a murder charge in Los Angeles.
