Father of Four Shot To Death After Fight At Burger Restaurant in Hawthorne

Hawthorne, CA—In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded early Wednesday, Jan. 17, an off-duty security guard lost his life during a physical altercation outside Fabulous Charbroiled Burgers in Hawthorne. The victim, identified by family members as Eddie McAllister of Lawndale, was fatally shot in the restaurant’s parking lot after a heated confrontation.

Hawthorne police responded to the scene at 3301 Rosecrans Ave. after receiving a call at 2:09 a.m. McAllister, had just finished his shift and stopped at the restaurant for a meal. The victim’s daughter, Emani McAllister, expressed the widespread affection for her father.

“Everybody loves him wherever he goes.”

Hawthorne officers and detectives identified a possible suspect based on statements and evidence collected at the scene and he was apprehended without incident.

This incident serves as a clear reminder of the rising concerns surrounding gun safety in Los Angeles and raises important discussions on community well-being and the need for effective measures to address the increasing incidents of shooting deaths.
