Nicole Linton Lawyer Says Seizure “Froze” Nurse Killing Six in Car Crash

Windsor Hills, Los Angeles—Lawyers for Nicole Linton, the traveling nurse who killed six people when her car flew through a red light at the busy intersection of Slauson and Labrea, are now saying Linton had a seizure and “froze at the wheel” doing the time of the crash.

Linton appeared before a Los Angeles judge in March, with her lawyer Jacqueline Sparagna telling the judge they plan to call a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy and seizures.

“Everything that the doctor has reviewed is consistent with her having a seizure. Nicole wasn’t sleeping for days and insomnia can cause seizures,” Sparagna told The Post. She added, “People who fall asleep at the wheel go limp, but if they have a seizure, everything tenses up. That is consistent with why her foot was on the pedal.”

Los Angeles prosecutors, however, claim that a psychiatric evaluation conducted on Linton showed no indication of a seizure and that Linton “floored” her car for at least five seconds before reaching speeds of 122 to 130 mph before speeding into the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues on Aug. 4 last year (New York Post).

Among the victims were pregnant 23-year-old Asherey Ryan, her 11-month-old son, Alonzo, and her boyfriend, Reynold Lester. 38-year-old Lynette Noble and her friend, 43-year-old Nathesia Lewis also died from the crash.

Linton was subsequently charged with six counts of murder (including one for the unborn baby) and five counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Following the crash, Nicole Linton’s sister Camille Linton, created a website to advocate for mental health awareness, where she states:“When I see that video, I don’t see Nicole driving…I see her mental illness driving.”

The family of several victims in the crash released a statement following news of the website.

“On behalf of the family of Asherey Ryan, Armani Lester, and Alonzo Quintero we find that the website made for Nicole Linton is insensitive and ill timed. We’re still struggling to grasp the magnitude of our loss. Every day has been emotionally hard. The hurt we’ve had to endure from the website seems quite intentional and we strongly oppose it. We will continue to get through this trying time as a family, and we will continue to seek Justice for Asherey, Armani and Alonzo. We hope that the other families affected will do the same.”
