The 2026 summit featured an appearance by Tiffany Haddish, whose presence underscored the importance of representation and authenticity in spaces of leadership. Hosted by the office of Curren Price in Council District 9, the summit was produced in partnership with The Happy Group—a cultural events collective known for large-scale activations, including recent Latino-focused festivals in Los Angeles that center culture and small businesses.

The summit transformed Sola’s Beehive into a vibrant hub of dialogue, celebration, and reflection. Women filled the venue engaging in conversations that spanned healing, reinvention, advocacy, and leadership.

From curated food experiences to live performances and deeply personal panel discussions, the event created a rare multi-generational space where lived experiences met actionable insight. A series of thoughtfully curated panels anchored the summit, each addressing critical dimensions of womanhood.

  • Women in Advocacy & Activism
Moderated by Dies Femme, the panel brought together Susan Burton, Jasmyne Cannick, and Julie Eahr, who explored the realities of organizing, policy influence, and sustaining movements rooted in community.
  • Healing Generational Trauma
Featuring Dr. Thema Bryant, Noreen McClendon, Charlene Dimas-Peinado, and Elsy Guerra, the conversation unpacked the long-term impacts of trauma and the importance of culturally grounded healing practices.
  • Reinvention After Life Transitions
This panel included Dr. Yolanda Whitaker, Esmee Chan, Dr. Laura D. Williams, and Tiana Sanchez, who shared candid reflections on navigating change—from career pivots to personal transformation—and reclaiming purpose at every stage of life

The summit’s keynote address by Tani Estefy centered on the evolving definition of leadership—one rooted not just in titles, but in impact, healing, and community responsibility.

More than just a pre–Mother’s Day gathering, CD9’s 2026 Women’s Leadership Summit served as a reflection of the power of collective space: where stories are shared, resources are exchanged, and new pathways are imagined.

By bringing together policymakers, cultural leaders, advocates, and everyday women, Council District 9 and The Happy Group created something deeper than a one-day event—they built a moment of alignment for women across Los Angeles to see themselves not just as participants, but as leaders shaping the future of their communities.
