Education Is Key Partners with Kalan FRFR to Award Scholarships to Two L.A Students

  • PublishedNovember 11, 2025

Los Angeles, CA–Education Is Key teamed up with rapper Kalan FRFR to grant two scholarships to Los Angeles students. The awards help cover back-to-school expenses or contribute toward future college savings. In addition to the financial support, Kalan gifted both recipients tickets to his sold-out concert at the YouTube Theater in L.A. And to make the moment even more special, TILT shoe store in Inglewood extended a credit to both students so they could pick out a free pair of shoes.

The two scholarship recipients are Autumn Beckett, who attends Vox Collegiate Middle School and maintains all A’s and B’s while serving on her school’s leadership council; and Evan Williams, a senior at Serra High School with a 4.0 GPA, who plans to attend San Diego State University next year.

This initiative reflects the broader mission of Education Is Key — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by NicoleNeeKKo” Lindsey. Education Is Key supports inner-city students through scholarships, mentorship, leadership development, and a vision rooted in community empowerment.

NeeKKo launched her campaign in 2018 and formally registered the nonprofit in 2019. Over the years, Education Is Key has awarded more than 40 scholarships to local students. The organization describes its model as “F.U.B.U.—For Us, By Us,” investing in its community by reinvesting donated funds directly back into students.

In addition to scholarships, the nonprofit hosts an annual “We Outside” event: a community field day that promotes wellness, family connection, and outdoor activity. Education Is Key also runs mentorship programs for high school juniors and seniors to strengthen their academic and personal growth.
