Nipsey Hussle Foundation Hosts First Turkey Drive on Crenshaw & Slauson

  • PublishedNovember 26, 2025

Los Angeles, CA–The Neighborhood Nip Foundation hosted its first Turkey Drive at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue, providing Thanksgiving meals and resources to hundreds of South Los Angeles families. The event marks a significant step in reactivating the property that once housed Nipsey Hussle’s original Marathon Clothing store, which had been closed and fenced off for six years.

The Turkey Drive was organized in partnership with the Think Watts Foundation, a nonprofit known for community resource distribution, financial literacy programs, and entrepreneurship training. Think Watts’ Business Builder Program helps South Los Angeles residents start and grow businesses, supporting economic empowerment in the neighborhood.

The event also highlighted plans for the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, which will transform the Marathon Clothing property into a community center, offering music programs and other creative arts programs for youth. The foundation aims to continue Nipsey Hussle’s legacy of community reinvestment.

Nipsey Hussle and his brother Blacc Sam began selling CDs, socks, and other goods along Slauson and Crenshaw to support themselves. The property’s former owners sold the lot to Nipsey Hussle’s family after recognizing the brothers’ impact on the area. Nearby, the former Master Burger where Nipsey Hussle’s killer ordered food before the 2019 shooting, has been completely gutted. This change reflects the efforts to reclaim spaces previously associated with tragedy.

The Neighborhood Nip Foundation Turkey Drive represents more than a holiday giveaway. It marks a revival of Crenshaw and Slauson as a hub for opportunity, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment. With the Neighborhood Nip Foundation scheduled to open soon, the historic corner will continue Nipsey Hussle’s mission and ensure that the marathon continues in South Los Angeles.
